Bengaluru police crack down on drug network; five arrested, narcotics worth crores seized

Bengaluru,  : Despite heightened vigilance by law enforcement agencies, the menace of drug trafficking continues to persist in the state. However, Bengaluru Police have dealt a significant blow to drug peddlers by arresting five accused involved in multiple cases and seizing narcotics worth crores of rupees.

In a major operation, Hebbagodi police arrested a Nigerian national identified as Emmanuel, who had allegedly been involved in drug peddling for over 12 years. According to police, he had entered India in 2014 on a business visa and later married an Indian woman after settling in Bengaluru. He reportedly rented multiple houses across the city and used them as hubs for distributing drugs.

“Based on credible information, we conducted a raid and arrested the आरोपी. We have seized MDMA, LSD, and various synthetic drugs worth around ₹14 crore,” a senior police officer said. The आरोपी is believed to have been supplying drugs to sub-peddlers across states and even internationally.

Police further stated that investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the network. “We suspect a larger racket and are working to trace the supply chain,” the officer added.

In a separate operation, Yelahanka New Town police arrested two ganja peddlers from Kerala—Adesh (19) and Mohammed Nishad (24). The duo had reportedly moved to Bengaluru three years ago and were sourcing ganja from Odisha for local distribution.

“About 21 kg of ganja worth ₹10.5 lakh has been seized from them. Both accused have been remanded to judicial custody,” police said.

Another case was reported by Parappana Agrahara police, where two individuals—Rahul and Prem—were arrested for peddling ganja under the guise of their daily professions. Rahul worked as a delivery boy, while Prem was an auto driver.

“They were bringing ganja from Tamil Nadu and selling it in different parts of the city. We have seized around 7.5 kg of ganja worth ₹3 lakh,” an officer said.

The police have reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations across the city. “We will continue our crackdown and ensure strict action against those involved in drug trafficking,” officials said.
