Actor and director Prathap Pothen dead body found in bedroom

Prathap Pothen, an actor and director involved in the Malayalam film industry, was found dead in his Chennai apartment. The 69-year-old actor has directed around 12 movies. Confirming the death of the actor in his flat located on Kilpauk Garden Road, a police officer said as per initial reports he had died of natural health causes. The Kilpauk Police will investigate further, the officer added.  When the workers come to do the housework as usual got shocked to see the Prathap Pothen dead body in the bedroom. Prathap Pothen has acted in more than 100 Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil movies. In 1979, Pratap Pothen was entering to Bharat cinema through the movie Aarav.

In 1980, Prathap gained much attention in the movie Lori and Chamaram. Originally from Thiruvananthapuram, Prathap studied at Ooty Boarding School and Malabar Christian College. After working in a private firm in Mumbai, Prathap joined theatre there and gave hundreds of plays.

Prathap got more movie offers in Tamil than Malayalam film industry. In 1987, he became known as a director through the movie Ruthubedam. After that Daisy, Jeeva, Aetri Aetri, Seevalaperi Pandi and directed super hit movie named Lucky Man. Pratap married and divorced Tamil actress Radhika for one year and then married Amala for 22 years and divorced in 2012. He has a cute daughter named Kiya.
