Bank Strike 3 Days: With the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) calling a three-day nationwide strike from September 28 to 30 to press for various demands, bank customers are advised to plan their important financial transactions in advance. Daily operations at branches of public sector banks are likely to be disrupted during the strike.
Customers visiting bank branches may face inconvenience as staff-assisted services such as cash deposits, cash withdrawals at counters, cheque clearance, demand draft (DD) issuance, and locker operations are expected to be affected. However, digital banking services will continue to function normally.
Banks have clarified that UPI, internet banking, mobile banking, and ATM services will remain available throughout the strike period. As the strike follows the September 26 and 27 weekend holidays, customers could experience limited access to branch banking services for several consecutive days.
To minimise inconvenience, the government has announced that all Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks will remain open and operate as usual on Sunday, September 27, allowing customers to complete essential banking transactions before the strike begins.
Additionally, September 30 marks the half-yearly closing of banks, making it advisable for customers to complete all urgent banking work well in advance to avoid last-minute difficulties.
