Bengaluru popular Pub become hotbed of Covid-19: 87 Staff tests positive

Bengaluru: A popular pub in North Bengaluru has become a hotbed of Covid-19, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) found on Sunday.

N Chidananada, Joint Commissioner, BBMP, West Zone, said that random testing of hotel, restaurant and pub employees had found that 16 staff members of a popular eatery and watering hole — 1522 – The Pub, on New BEL Road in Mathikere — tested positive for Covid-19.

A total of 87 staffers at the pub have been tested as part of our routine activities,” Chidananada said. All of the infected people are asymptomatic so far and have been allowed home isolation.”  The discovery of the new cluster is relatively rare for West Zone, which has so far found only two clusters. The largest numbers have been found in Yelahanka and Dasarahalli zone
