Google Upgrades Gemini Live and Search Live with Faster AI Responses and Smarter Real-Time Interaction
The new Gemini 3.1 Flash Live AI model powers faster, context-aware responses, expands Search Live globally, and allows users to interact with voice and camera features in real time on multiple platforms.

Google has announced major upgrades to its AI-powered live features, enhancing both Gemini Live and Search Live experiences. The updates introduce the Gemini 3.1 Flash Live AI model, which promises faster responses, smarter context-aware replies, and smoother real-time conversations.
Previously running on Gemini 2.5, Gemini Live now benefits from an expanded context window, enabling the AI to better adjust response length and tone based on the conversation. Users can expect fewer interruptions and more accurate answers during interactions, making it a more reliable tool for everyday queries.
Google emphasizes that Gemini 3.1 Flash Live is particularly suited for developers and large enterprises. The model scored higher than its predecessor on benchmarks such as ComplexFuncBench Audio and Audio MultiChallenge, which test multi-step function calling, following complex instructions, and long-horizon reasoning. Additionally, all audio outputs created with this model are watermarked using SynthID for authenticity.
Search Live, integrated within the Google app, is also expanding to over 200 countries and regions where AI Mode is available. The feature supports all languages currently compatible with Gemini and allows users to interact using voice commands or the camera. On both Android and iOS, it can be activated by tapping the Live icon under the search bar, or through Google Lens for real-time visual queries.
The live AI tools now offer a seamless real-time conversational experience, letting users ask questions and receive immediate answers about objects, surroundings, and information without leaving the app. By leveraging the new AI model, Google ensures that both casual users and professionals benefit from faster, smarter, and more intuitive AI interactions.
These updates underline Googleβs continued focus on making AI not just a tool for search, but a real-time assistant capable of understanding complex queries, providing accurate responses, and enabling cross-platform usability.
