Heavy Rainfall Alert In These 13 Districts in Karnataka

Rain activity has intensified across Karnataka’s South Interior regions, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in several parts of the state today (October 9, 2026).

As a precautionary measure, the weather department has issued a Yellow Alert for 13 districts, including Bengaluru. In South Interior Karnataka, districts such as Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Hassan, and Mandya have been receiving moderate rainfall over the past two days, and the intensity of rain is expected to increase further today.

Moderate rainfall is also likely in Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, Kolar, and Chikkaballapur. Compared to South Interior Karnataka, parts of the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada may receive light to moderate rainfall.

Meanwhile, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts are expected to experience mostly dry weather conditions. In North Karnataka, major districts including Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Kalaburagi, Raichur, and Vijayapura are unlikely to witness significant rainfall, with dry weather conditions expected to continue.

In Bengaluru and Bengaluru Rural districts, partly cloudy weather has prevailed since morning, with the possibility of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms during the afternoon or evening hours. Continuous rainfall has increased the chill factor in the city, leading to a drop in temperatures. Bengaluru is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 30°C and a minimum temperature of 21°C today.
