Tata Punch EV Price Hike Makes Select Variants Costlier

Tata Motors has revised the prices of its Punch EV lineup, making several variants more expensive in the Indian market. The latest increase ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 depending on the variant, pushing the electric SUV into a higher price bracket.

After the revision, the Tata Punch EV is priced between Rs 9.79 lakh and Rs 12.99 lakh, ex showroom. The increase is particularly noticeable among variants equipped with the larger battery pack, where selected models have become Rs 20,000 more expensive.

The Punch EV continues to be offered in Smart, Adventure and Empowered trims. Buyers can choose between 30kWh and 40kWh battery configurations, with the lineup covering six variants.

For the 30kWh battery versions, the Smart and Smart Plus variants have received a Rs 10,000 price increase. The 40kWh battery lineup has seen a bigger revision, with the Smart Plus, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered Plus S variants becoming Rs 20,000 costlier.

The price revision comes as Tata Motors continues to maintain a strong position in India’s electric vehicle market. According to the information provided, the company sold 13,158 electric vehicles in August 2026 and recorded around 43 percent market share during the month. The Punch EV has played an important role in Tata Motors’ presence in the mainstream electric vehicle segment.

Under the body, the Punch EV uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The motor produces 90kW of power and 190Nm of torque, giving the electric SUV enough performance for regular city driving as well as highway use.

The larger battery configuration is supported by a 35kWh battery according to the supplied specifications, while the vehicle is claimed to deliver up to 365 kilometres of range on a single charge. Buyers should check the exact battery capacity and range for the selected variant before purchase because specifications can vary across versions.

Performance is another part of the Punch EV package. The vehicle is claimed to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 9.5 seconds. Its charging capability is also designed to make daily electric vehicle use more convenient, although the actual charging time can depend on the charger and charging conditions.

Safety remains one of the key selling points of the Punch EV. The electric model carries a five star safety rating, adding to its appeal for buyers who are looking for an electric vehicle with a strong focus on occupant protection.

The latest price increase means customers considering the Punch EV will now need to spend more on several variants than before. The Rs 20,000 increase on the 40kWh models is relatively modest in the overall vehicle price, but it could still matter to buyers working with a fixed budget.
