BK Hariprasad Urges Congress MLAs to Stay Calm After Cabinet Expansion Discontent

The expansion of the Karnataka cabinet has brought celebrations for newly inducted ministers, but it has also sparked disappointment among several Congress legislators who were left out. As dissatisfaction began surfacing from within the ruling party, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President BK Hariprasad stepped forward with an appeal for restraint, urging party members not to make emotional decisions such as resigning from their positions.

Following the announcement of the new cabinet, reports emerged that several legislators had expressed disappointment over not being included in the ministerial team. Reacting to the growing unrest, Hariprasad acknowledged the concerns and assured party workers that the leadership fully understands the feelings of those who had expected ministerial responsibilities.

In a public message shared on social media, Hariprasad emphasized that the Congress party values every legislator who has contributed to strengthening the organization. According to him, every elected representative naturally hopes to shoulder greater responsibilities in government after working hard for the party and earning the trust of voters.

He noted that the leadership has taken serious note of the concerns expressed by several MLAs and made it clear that their dedication, political experience and contribution would never be ignored. He said disappointment over missing out on a cabinet position should not be viewed as a rejection of an individual’s political career or capabilities.

The Congress leader stressed that ministerial positions are limited in number, making it impossible to accommodate every deserving legislator in a single cabinet expansion. He explained that multiple factors are considered before the final list is prepared, including regional balance, social justice, representation of various communities, administrative experience, emerging leadership and governance requirements.

According to Hariprasad, the cabinet was finalized only after detailed discussions involving both the national leadership of the Congress party and the state leadership. He said the selections were based on a comprehensive evaluation rather than personal preferences, adding that the overall interests of the government and the party remained the guiding principles throughout the process.

The appeal comes at a time when nineteen ministers have already been inducted into Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s cabinet. The expansion included experienced senior leaders as well as fresh faces, reflecting an attempt to strike a balance between continuity and new leadership within the government.

While congratulating those who secured ministerial positions, Hariprasad urged disappointed legislators not to lose confidence. He emphasized that public service is not limited to holding a cabinet berth and reminded party members that there are numerous opportunities to contribute through organizational responsibilities, government assignments and other important roles.

He stated that authority alone should never become the sole measure of service to the party. According to him, committed leaders can continue serving the people through various platforms, whether inside the government, within the party organization or through other administrative responsibilities that may be assigned in the future.

Hariprasad assured legislators that the Congress leadership remains committed to recognizing talent and experience. He expressed confidence that every deserving leader would receive appropriate responsibilities at the right time based on merit, performance and the needs of the party.

The KPCC president also made a direct appeal against taking drastic decisions driven by emotion. Referring to reports of frustration among some legislators, he urged them not to consider resignations or any other actions that could weaken the party or create unnecessary instability.

Instead, he encouraged dissatisfied MLAs to communicate their concerns directly with the party leadership. Hariprasad assured them that their opinions, grievances and expectations would be conveyed to the Congress high command and addressed through internal discussions rather than public confrontation.

He reiterated that the Congress has always believed in resolving differences through dialogue and mutual trust. According to him, the party possesses the maturity and organizational strength needed to handle internal disagreements while protecting the larger interests of both the government and the organization.

The senior Congress leader further appealed to all legislators to support the newly appointed ministers. He described those selected for cabinet positions as loyal party workers with the ability and experience required to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to them. He said every minister now carries the responsibility of meeting public expectations through effective governance.

Hariprasad pointed out that the government faces several important commitments made to the people of Karnataka. Delivering on election promises and ensuring efficient administration, he said, should remain the top priority for every elected representative regardless of whether they hold ministerial office.

He reminded legislators that the confidence placed in the Congress by the electorate carries greater importance than individual political aspirations.
