Bengaluru Traffic Restrictions Announced for Karnataka Ministers Oath Ceremony at Lok Bhavan

Motorists travelling through central Bengaluru on Monday have been advised to plan their journeys carefully as the city police have announced extensive traffic restrictions for the swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed Karnataka ministers at Lok Bhavan. The event is expected to witness the presence of senior political leaders, government officials and invited guests, prompting the traffic police to introduce temporary diversions and parking restrictions across several important roads.

According to the Bengaluru Traffic Police, the restrictions will remain in effect from 2 pm to 8 pm for general traffic in the vicinity of the venue. In addition, the movement of heavy vehicles within Bengaluru city limits has been prohibited from 2 pm until 10 pm to ensure smooth traffic flow and strengthen security arrangements around the ceremony.

Joint Commissioner of Police Traffic M N Anucheth has instructed commuters to follow alternative routes wherever possible and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed across the affected stretches. Officials believe the temporary measures will help reduce congestion and maintain orderly movement during the high profile government function.

One of the most significant restrictions applies to Cubbon Road. Except for vehicles carrying official authorization passes, traffic will not be permitted from the BRV Junction towards CTO Junction and further up to Lok Bhavan. This stretch is expected to remain heavily secured throughout the event.

Traffic restrictions have also been imposed for vehicles approaching Ambedkar Road. Vehicles travelling from Balekundri Junction towards Ambedkar Road and those moving from KR Circle towards Coffee Board Junction on Dr BR Ambedkar Road will face diversions during the restricted hours.

Similarly, vehicles coming from Queens Junction towards CTO Junction will not be allowed to proceed on the regular route. Restrictions have also been announced for motorists travelling from St Marks Road towards CTO Junction, with police requesting drivers to use designated diversion routes instead.

To minimize inconvenience, traffic authorities have announced several alternative routes for commuters. Motorists travelling from BRV Junction on Cubbon Road towards CTO Junction and Lok Bhavan have been advised to take the Shivajinagar route and continue through Anil Kumble Junction before reaching their destinations.

Drivers approaching from Queens Road and Shivajinagar have been asked to divert through Cunningham Road from Balekundri Junction. This route is expected to handle diverted traffic during the restricted period and help avoid congestion around the event venue.

For commuters travelling from KR Circle towards Coffee Board Junction, police have recommended using Nrupathunga Road instead of the restricted Ambedkar Road corridor. Authorities believe this diversion will significantly reduce traffic pressure around Lok Bhavan and nearby government buildings.

Those heading towards Lok Bhavan from Queens Junction can also use the route passing through Anil Kumble Junction and BRV Junction, depending on traffic conditions and instructions issued by personnel stationed at various intersections.

Apart from vehicle movement restrictions, Bengaluru Traffic Police have also imposed a complete ban on parking along several important roads surrounding the ceremony venue. Officials warned that improperly parked vehicles may be towed away to ensure uninterrupted traffic management.

Parking will not be permitted on Dr BR Ambedkar Road, Lok Bhavan Road, LH Road, Queens Road, Palace Road, the internal roads within Cubbon Park, Miller Road, Infantry Road, KG Road, Nrupathunga Road, Kasturba Road and Cubbon Road. These restrictions are intended to keep emergency access routes clear and prevent unnecessary congestion.

Authorities have, however, arranged designated parking facilities for both pass holders and members of the public attending the event.

Vehicles carrying official passes will be allowed to park at the Vidhana Soudha cement parking area, designated parking spaces around Vikasa Soudha, LH parking located behind Raj Bhavan and the parking area at the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium premises.

Visitors and motorists without official passes have been directed to use alternative parking facilities including Kondajji Bhavan, the multi level parking complex at Shivajinagar Bus Stand, Kanteerava Stadium parking area, UB City parking, Government Arts College campus, Corporation Office parking area and the parking facilities available near Gates 2, 3 and 4 of Palace Grounds.

Traffic officials have appealed to residents and office goers to avoid travelling through central Bengaluru during the restriction period unless absolutely necessary. Since several government offices and commercial establishments are located in the affected zone, congestion is expected to increase during the afternoon and evening hours despite the diversion plan.

The police department has also requested commuters to follow instructions issued by traffic personnel at intersections instead of relying solely on navigation applications, as real time traffic diversions may change depending on the movement of dignitaries and security requirements.

The restriction on heavy vehicles until 10 pm is another important measure introduced to reduce traffic volume across the city. Goods carriers and other large commercial vehicles will not be allowed to enter Bengaluru city limits during the specified period, helping authorities maintain smoother traffic conditions while thousands of vehicles are expected to move around the ceremony venue.

Officials have assured citizens that the restrictions are temporary and have been introduced purely for security and traffic management purposes. Once the oath taking ceremony concludes and security clearance is completed, normal traffic movement will gradually be restored across all affected roads.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police have encouraged the public to cooperate with officials, start their journeys early if required and choose alternate routes to avoid delays. Motorists have also been advised to remain patient during the temporary restrictions and stay updated through official traffic advisories for any additional changes throughout the day.
