Bengaluru Breathes Cleaner Air as Air Quality Improves Across Karnataka

Favourable monsoon conditions have improved air quality across Karnataka with Bengaluru and several major cities recording healthy pollution levels creating safer conditions for outdoor activities and daily commuting.

Residents across Karnataka are enjoying a welcome improvement in air quality as pollution levels remain under control in most parts of the state. Fresh monsoon showers have played a significant role in reducing airborne dust and harmful particulate matter, resulting in healthier atmospheric conditions in Bengaluru and several other major cities.

Bengaluru recorded an Air Quality Index ranging between 45 and 55 on July 26, placing most parts of the city in the Good to Moderate category. Environmental experts attribute the improvement to continuous rainfall, which has helped wash away suspended pollutants and maintain cleaner air throughout the day.

Several residential neighbourhoods in the state capital reported especially encouraging readings. Areas including Jayanagar, Basavanagudi and Koramangala recorded AQI values below 50, indicating clean and healthy air. Industrial and high traffic locations such as Peenya, the City Railway Station area and BTM Layout registered AQI levels between 55 and 63, remaining within the moderate range without posing significant health concerns for the general public.

The positive trend extends well beyond Bengaluru. Coastal districts including Mangaluru and Udupi have reported AQI values ranging from 32 to 45. The combination of steady rainfall and sea breeze has helped maintain fresh air, making these regions among the cleanest in the state.

Hill and forest rich districts such as Madikeri and Chamarajanagar also continue to enjoy excellent environmental conditions, with AQI readings remaining between 40 and 45. These areas have consistently maintained healthy air quality due to abundant greenery and lower levels of industrial activity.

Other major cities including Mysuru, Hubballi and Belagavi have also reported favourable air quality, with AQI values generally ranging between 50 and 60. Pollution levels remain well within acceptable limits, allowing residents to carry out daily activities without significant air quality related concerns.

Experts note that the active monsoon has significantly reduced concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 particles, which are among the primary contributors to urban air pollution. The cleaner atmosphere has created more comfortable conditions for outdoor exercise, travel and other routine activities across the state.

Overall, Karnataka is witnessing a day of improved environmental conditions, with most districts recording satisfactory air quality. Authorities continue to encourage efforts to reduce pollution throughout the year so that the benefits of cleaner air can be sustained even after the monsoon season comes to an end.
