PNB Announces Recruitment Drive for 545 Local Bank Officer Posts Across India

Punjab National Bank has opened applications for 545 Local Bank Officer positions offering opportunities for graduates with banking experience and regional language skills across multiple states.

Punjab National Bank has announced a major recruitment drive for candidates looking for banking sector opportunities. The bank is inviting online applications for 545 Local Bank Officer LBO vacancies across different states in India. Among these, 78 positions have been allotted to Karnataka, creating a significant opportunity for eligible banking aspirants in the state.

The recruitment process is aimed at strengthening PNB’s local banking operations by appointing officers who understand regional markets and languages. Interested candidates can submit their applications online before the deadline of August 9.

The vacancies are distributed across several states, including Assam with 85 posts, West Bengal with 80, Karnataka with 78, Gujarat with 77, Maharashtra with 67, Tamil Nadu with 51 and Telangana with 41 positions. Other states included in the recruitment are Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh.

Candidates applying for the Local Bank Officer posts must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. Along with educational qualifications, applicants should have at least one year of experience in the banking sector. Knowledge of the local language of the state for which the candidate is applying is also mandatory, including the ability to read, write and communicate effectively.

The age limit for applicants has been fixed between 20 and 30 years. However, candidates belonging to reserved categories will receive relaxation according to government rules. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates will get five years of relaxation, while Other Backward Class candidates will receive three years of relaxation.

The selection process will include multiple stages to assess candidates’ banking knowledge and suitability for the role. Applicants will have to appear for an online written examination, followed by a local language proficiency test, document verification and a personal interview before final selection.

The online examination is expected to be conducted in August or September. The test will consist of 150 multiple choice questions carrying a total of 150 marks. The paper will include sections on general, financial and banking awareness, reasoning and computer aptitude, data analysis and interpretation, quantitative aptitude and English language skills.

The banking awareness section will carry 50 questions for 50 marks, while the remaining sections will include 25 questions each. The exam will also follow a negative marking system, with 0.25 marks deducted for every incorrect answer.

Selected candidates will receive an attractive salary package ranging from Rs 48,480 to Rs 85,920 per month. The recruitment offers a strong career opportunity for graduates seeking stable employment in the banking sector.
