New Delhi: India has officially revealed the names of six armed forces personnel who made the supreme sacrifice during Operation Sindoor, a military operation launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. This marks the first time their identities have been made public.
The fallen heroes include Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Agniveer Murali Naik, Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh, and Indian Air Force Sergeant Surendra Kumar. Five of them served in the Indian Army, while one belonged to the Indian Air Force.
As a mark of honour, Rifleman Sunil Kumar has been posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra, India’s third-highest wartime gallantry award. Sergeant Surendra Kumar has also been honoured posthumously with the Vayu Sena Medal for his exceptional service and bravery.
The names of all six martyrs will now be inscribed on the granite panels at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. Their names will be added to the Tyag Chakra, a dedicated section that commemorates every Indian soldier who has laid down their life in service of the nation since Independence.
The National War Memorial stands as a lasting tribute to India’s brave soldiers, ensuring that the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of these six Operation Sindoor martyrs will be remembered by generations to come.
