Samsung Galaxy phones are set to get a major boost with the upcoming Android 17 update based on One UI 9 bringing fresh features security updates and longer support timelines.

Samsung smartphone users have reason to celebrate as the company prepares to roll out its next big software update. The upcoming Android 17, based on One UI 9, is expected to bring a range of improvements to several Galaxy devices, making older models feel brand new. A tech tipster recently shared a list of Galaxy phones likely to receive this upgrade, giving users a glimpse of what’s ahead.

Google has already released the final Beta 4.1 update for Android 17, and the stable version is expected soon, likely by the end of June or early July, initially for Pixel devices. Following this, major smartphone manufacturers, including Samsung, are expected to introduce their customized skins on top of Android 17. Samsung’s One UI 9 update is anticipated to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Fold 8 series.

According to industry insider Tarun Vats, shared via social media, several Galaxy S-series phones will be eligible for the stable One UI 9 update. This includes the Galaxy S26, S25, S24, and S23 series, along with their respective Fan Edition models. While Samsung has yet to confirm the official eligibility list, these predictions are based on the company’s existing update policy. The stable rollout is likely to happen around October, following the pattern of previous major One UI updates.

The eligibility and support timelines vary across models. The Galaxy S26 series, launched in February 2025, will receive seven years of OS and security updates, keeping devices supported until February 2033. Similarly, the Galaxy S25 series, including the Edge and FE variants, is eligible for seven years of updates with staggered end dates through 2032. The Galaxy S24 series, covering the standard, Plus, Ultra, and FE models, also qualifies for seven years of OS and security updates, with main models supported until January 2031. The Galaxy S23 series, including the FE model, will receive four years of OS updates and five years of security patches, with updates extending until February 2028 for main models and October 2028 for the FE variant.

This update promises not only the latest Android features but also extended device longevity, improved performance, and enhanced security. Galaxy users can look forward to a refreshed interface, smoother operation, and the latest Google services without needing to upgrade their devices. In the coming weeks, Samsung is expected to share the official rollout schedule along with detailed eligibility information for all Galaxy devices.

For Samsung fans, the Android 17 update based on One UI 9 signals an exciting time where multiple Galaxy smartphones will feel significantly upgraded, offering a modern experience even on older devices.
