Ather Rizta Crosses 3 Lakh Sales Mark, Strengthens Its Grip in India’s EV Scooter Market
Ather Energy’s family focused Rizta electric scooter has crossed 300000 sales within two years, driven by strong demand, practical design, and expanding presence across key Indian markets and growing EV adoption.

Ather Energy is steadily strengthening its position in India’s fast growing electric two wheeler space, and its Rizta family scooter has now become a major success story. Within just two years of its launch, the model has crossed the milestone of 300000 units in sales, marking a significant achievement for the company’s first dedicated family scooter.
The growth has not been sudden but consistent. Reports suggest that Rizta had already crossed 200000 units by December last year, and in the following months it added another 100000 units by May this year. This steady rise reflects strong and sustained demand from urban as well as semi urban markets.
Rizta has played a key role in expanding Ather Energy’s reach across states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. The company has also credited the scooter for strengthening its leadership position in South India, where it continues to see strong adoption among family buyers looking for practical electric mobility options.
Interestingly, Ather Energy’s overall market share in the electric two wheeler segment rose to around 17.3 percent at the end of the last financial year. The company has also seen notable growth in regions like Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, indicating that its expansion is not limited to traditional strongholds.
Behind this expansion, Ather Energy’s manufacturing capacity is also scaling up. The company currently operates two production facilities in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and is setting up a third plant in Bidkin near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra. This move is aimed at meeting the rising demand for its electric scooter portfolio.
Along with Rizta, Ather Energy’s lineup includes popular models such as 450S, 450X and 450 Apex. However, Rizta stands out for its family oriented design approach. It offers a large seat along with 56 litre storage capacity, making it more practical for daily use and longer family rides.
On the safety and connectivity front, the scooter is equipped with features like skid control, theft alert and tow alert. These additions are designed to improve rider confidence while also keeping the vehicle more secure in everyday conditions.
The broader electric scooter market in India continues to expand rapidly. In the last financial year, TVS Motor led the segment with around 341512 units sold, while Bajaj Auto secured second place with 289349 units of its Chetak electric scooter. Overall, the EV two wheeler market grew by more than 21 percent, crossing 1.4 million units.
Amid this competitive landscape, Ather Energy secured the third position, reinforcing its growing influence. The company also crossed the milestone of producing over 500000 electric two wheelers in the same period, highlighting its increasing scale and production capability.
As demand for electric mobility continues to rise, Rizta’s performance shows how a focus on comfort, practicality and real world usability can translate into strong market acceptance.
