WhatsApp has begun rolling out a new feature called Business AI for its WhatsApp Business users in India. This update is aimed at changing the way small and large businesses handle customer communication by introducing automation and intelligent chat support directly inside the app.

The rollout is being done gradually and is expected to reach more businesses in the coming weeks. One of the key highlights is that the feature supports multiple Indian languages, making it easier for businesses across different regions to interact with customers without language barriers.

At its core, Business AI is designed to simplify customer communication. It can respond to messages using business data, answer frequently asked questions, and assist with everyday tasks that usually require human involvement. This includes handling queries related to products, services, pricing, discounts, and delivery updates.

Businesses can also use the AI system to generate leads, assist with appointment bookings, and manage sales conversations more efficiently. It can even suggest products to customers based on context and help in sharing relevant information from catalogs or uploaded documents.

Despite automation, control remains in the hands of the business owners. They can step into conversations whenever needed and take over from the AI system. There is also flexibility to adjust how the AI responds or disable the feature completely depending on operational needs.

WhatsApp has also indicated that future updates will introduce UPI based payment support directly inside chats. This will allow users to complete transactions without leaving the conversation window, making the platform more seamless for both businesses and customers.

Setting up Business AI on WhatsApp Business is fairly simple. Users need to open the tools section within the app, select the Business AI option, and follow the setup instructions. Once activated, the system begins using business profile details, product catalogs, and uploaded documents to interact with customers automatically.

After activation, the AI can handle customer queries, share product information, and support sales discussions around the clock. Businesses still retain full control and can modify settings or switch off the feature whenever required, ensuring flexibility alongside automation.
