WhatsApp Introduces Major Updates: Easier Cross-Platform Chat Transfer and Dual Accounts on iPhone

The new WhatsApp features enhance cross-platform chat transfer, AI-powered media editing, storage management, and allow iPhone users to run two accounts on a single device for better organization.

WhatsApp has rolled out a set of significant updates aimed at improving user convenience and cross-platform functionality. The Meta-owned messaging app announced features that make transferring chats between Android and iOS devices smoother, managing storage simpler, and interacting with media smarter using AI tools.

One of the most notable updates is the enhanced cross-platform chat transfer feature. Users can now seamlessly move their accounts, personal and group chats, communities, WhatsApp channel updates, chat history, and call logs between Android and iOS devices. Photos and videos are also included in the transfer, ensuring no important content is left behind when switching devices.

iPhone users now have the ability to operate two WhatsApp accounts on a single device. Previously available only on Android, this feature helps separate work and personal communications. The app displays the active account’s profile picture in the bottom tab, making it easy to identify which account is currently in use.

Storage management has also been improved. WhatsApp now allows users to locate and delete large files directly within individual chats without deleting entire conversations. By selecting ‘Manage Storage’ under a chat, users can free up space while retaining their chat history, giving more control over personal and media content.

The platform has added AI-powered enhancements for media handling as well. Using Meta AI, users can edit photos directly within chats before sending them. This includes removing unwanted elements, changing backgrounds, or applying various styles, giving users more creative control over shared media.

Additionally, the ‘Writing Help’ feature has been upgraded to suggest context-aware replies while maintaining user privacy. This tool assists users in crafting quick, relevant responses without compromising sensitive information.

According to WhatsApp, these updates are gradually rolling out and will be available to all users in the coming weeks. With these changes, the app aims to simplify chat management, enhance creativity, and make switching devices and accounts smoother than ever before.
