Vivo is preparing to take its latest X500 series beyond China, with the lineup expected to reach selected international markets soon. The series includes the Vivo X500, Vivo X500 Pro and Vivo X500 Pro Max, giving the company three premium models with different hardware configurations.
An international launch appears to be getting closer after Vivo created a dedicated microsite for the X500 series on its Austria website. The European Union launch is expected on October 27, although availability could vary between individual markets.
Battery capacity is one area where international versions may differ considerably from the Chinese models. Listings in the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling database indicate different battery capacities for the international variants.
The Vivo X500 is listed with a rated battery capacity of 5180mAh, which could be marketed as a 5300mAh battery. The Vivo X500 Pro is listed with a rated capacity of 6305mAh and could be promoted as having a 6500mAh battery.
These figures are lower than the capacities offered by the corresponding Chinese models. In China, the Vivo X500 comes with a 7500mAh battery, while the X500 Pro carries a 6510mAh battery. The X500 Pro Max has an even larger 8000mAh battery.
The difference in battery capacity could become an important detail for customers waiting for the international versions. Vivo has not yet explained why the battery specifications may differ between markets, so the final reason for the change remains unclear.
The standard Vivo X500 is expected to feature a 6.59 inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution of 1260 by 2750 pixels. The screen can support a refresh rate of up to 144Hz and a touch sampling rate of 300Hz.
Under the hood, the standard model is expected to use the MediaTek Dimensity 9600M chipset. The phone also has a triple rear camera system that could include a 50 megapixel primary sensor, a 50 megapixel ultrawide camera and a 64 megapixel periscope telephoto camera.
The higher end models are expected to bring more advanced display and camera hardware. The Vivo X500 Pro could feature a 6.36 inch AMOLED screen with a 1.5K resolution of 1216 by 2660 pixels.
The Vivo X500 Pro Max is expected to stand out with a larger 6.85 inch AMOLED display offering a 2K resolution of 1440 by 3168 pixels. Both Pro models are expected to use the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset.
Camera hardware is another area where Vivo appears to be separating the two premium variants. The X500 Pro is expected to have a 50 megapixel primary camera, a 50 megapixel ultrawide camera and a 64 megapixel periscope telephoto camera.
The X500 Pro Max could use the same 50 megapixel primary and 50 megapixel ultrawide cameras but may replace the periscope camera with a much higher resolution 200 megapixel telephoto sensor.
The three models therefore appear to target different sections of the premium smartphone market. The standard X500 focuses on a compact display size, high refresh rate and a versatile camera setup, while the Pro models add larger screens and more advanced hardware.
The international launch is particularly interesting because the battery specifications may not directly match the versions already available in China. Customers who have been following the Chinese launch may therefore find differences when the phones arrive in Europe and other selected markets.
Vivo has yet to reveal complete international pricing and availability details. It is also not clear whether all three models will be sold in every international market or whether Vivo will limit certain variants to selected regions.
For now, the October 27 European launch provides the clearest indication of when international customers could learn more. The Vivo X500 series is expected to combine high refresh rate displays, MediaTek flagship processors and advanced camera systems, while battery capacity could vary significantly from the Chinese versions.
