State Bank of India (SBI) has asked its SBI customers not to scan the QR code to receive money. Because it is being used only when sending money to others. You cannot receive money by scanning QR codes. If you are a customer of State Bank of India (SBI), the bank has recommended this method for you. SBI has asked its customers not to scan the QR code to receive money.

Remember the safety tips every time you make UPI payments. It is known that you can lose money if you scan a QR code sent by someone to receive money. With the increase in the number of online payments, cases of online fraud and cybercrime are also on the rise. Here are some safety tips shared by SBI to keep in mind while making UPI payments.

Step 1:

UPI PIN is required only to transfer money and not to receive it.

Step 2:

Always verify mobile number, name and UPI ID before sending money.

Step 3:

Do not share UPI PIN with anyone. And don’t confuse UPI PIN with OTP (One Time Password).

Step 4:

Scanner is preferred for money transfer.

Step 5:

Don’t look for any solution other than official sources.

Step 6:

For any payment or technical issues please use the help section of the app and in case of discrepancy, seek redressed through Bank’s Complaint Handling Portal: https://crcf.sbi.co.in/ccf/. SBI customers are warned about sending fake message on behalf of SBI to update your PAN number to avoid blocking your account. According to information, several SBI customers have received a message stating that their Yono account has been closed and they need to update their PAN number to reactivate their SBI Yono account.

Dear customer, your SBI YONO account is closed today. A fake message will be sent saying contact us now and update your PAN number on the link below. Official government fact-checker, PIB Fact Check, which informs and warns people about this fake message, tweeted about the same. A fake message issued on behalf of SBI asks customers to update their PAN number to avoid blocking their account.

Never respond to emails asking you to share your personal or bank details, PIB Fact Check said in a tweet. “SBI never asks for personal information through messages,” it added. PIB Fact Check has advised more people to report such messages by writing an email to [email protected] or people can call the helpline number 1930.
