iPhone 13 may launch on this date: Check Specs, features and price

We know much about the iPhone 13 months before its launch, thanks to the numerous hints around smartphones to date. It was known that Apple would launch the new iPhone lineup in September, but a recent prediction now closes down on the date.

Apple is expected to release the new iPhone 13, likely to be named the iPhone 12s, on September 24. The release will follow an announcement of the new series on September 14. Pre-order are likely to start on September 17.

iPhone 13 specs and features

1. Apple typically submits the US and international model numbers for its devices. This should add up to a total of 8 devices, however, the listing only mentions 7. This could mean that one of the devices will not see an international release this year. The iPhone 12 mini did not do well hence, Apple might choose not to release the upcoming iPhone 13 mini globally.

2. The iPhone 13 lineup is expected to make a way in September this year. Ahead of which Apple is required to gain certification from regulators around the world. And it seems like the brand has already begun with this process. A new listing has been spotted on the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), helping us with the model numbers of these devices. The listing details seven devices with model numbers A2628, A2630, A2634, A2635, A2640, A2643 and A2645.

3. The iPhones have been embracing the notch for three generations now, and it may continue for a few more. But this time, the notch is going to be comparatively smaller, which makes us presume that Apple may get rid of the notch soon.

4. We have already seen a plethora of leaks to confirm that the iPhone 13 models will ship with a trimmed down notch. Apple is said to achieve this by placing the infrared flood illuminator, sensor and dot projector in a single module. In addition to that, the earpiece will also be moved to the top.

5. A report from Digitimes says that the die size of the VSCEL chip used in the Face-ID system will shrink by 40 per cent to 50 per cent. This reduction in chip size seems to be another reason for the shrunken notch.

6. Last month, Unbox Therapy gave us a closer look at the iPhone 13 Pro Max dummy. In the video, we can see the trimmed down notch on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The YouTuber went the extra mile to measure the notch and found out that the notch on the iPhone 13 Pro Max dummy measures 26.3 mm, whereas the one on the current-gen iPhone 12 Pro Max measures 34.6 mm. Now that’s 8.3mm lesser than the current-gen model. If this comes out to be true, it will be a significant change as the brand has been carrying this big fat notch since the iPhone X series.

7. The YouTuber also compared the camera modules of the iPhone 13 Pro Max (dummy) and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Where he observed that the size of the camera module is substantially increased on the iPhone 13 Max, not just this, the lenses also appear to be bigger.

8. While that’s just one leak, there is plenty of CAD renders on the internet that confirms these design changes. So it’s likely that these will appear on the iPhone 13 models.

9. Interestingly, the camera placement on the lower end iPhones is supposed to change. According to the leaks, the cameras will be placed diagonally on the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 mini. We don’t know as to why Apple might want to change the placement, one possible reason could be the inclusion of bigger lenses.

10. The top-end iPhone 13 models in 2021 are supposed to feature 120Hz LTPO displays. This is mainly to differentiate the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro from the other two offerings. Reports suggest that Samsung and LG will be supplying these LTPO displays for the upcoming iPhone 13 models. Moreover, Samsung has also begun the production of these panels. So we are hopeful that the iPhone 13 Pro models will ship with an LTPO display.

11. LTPO is a superior display tech that saves a decent amount of battery life. Another report suggests that the displays being manufactured by LG and Samsung will reduce power consumption by 15 to 20 per cent on the upcoming iPhone 13 Pro models.

12. A bunch of reports also hint towards the inclusion of a Touch-ID based in-display fingerprint scanner. In addition to that, we may also see the always-on display on the upcoming iPhone 13 models.

13. The iPhone 13 lineup will be powered by the new A15 Bionic chipset being developed by TSMC. Leaks suggest that TSMC has already begun with the production of this chipset. As per our information, this chipset is based on a 5nm manufacturing process similar to the A14 Bionic. This new chipset will supposedly bring major performance and battery improvements to the upcoming iPhones.

14. We have also learnt that Apple is planning to introduce bigger batteries to the iPhone 13 models. As per a Chinese source, the iPhone 13 mini will have a 2,406 mAh cell, the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro will sport a 3,095 mAh battery, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max will come with a 4352mAh capacity.

15. In comparison, the iPhone 12 sports a 2,227mAh battery, the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro get a 2,815 mAh battery, whereas the top-end iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 3,687 mAh cell.

16. Additionally, Apple might bump up the storage to 1TB on the upcoming iPhone 13 Pro models. An analyst has confirmed the previous leak saying that this change is coming to the high-end iPhone 13 models. Currently, the storage on the iPhone 12 models is capped at 512GB. Hence, this could be a welcome change for iPhone users.

17. The iPhone 13 models are supposed to see improvements on the connectivity front as well. Apple’s settlement with Qualcomm allows them to use Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon X60 5G modem. This modem will supposedly be integrated into the upcoming A15 Bionic chipset, thereby saving battery life. Furthermore, we may also see WiFi 6E support.

iPhone 13 India price

There are very few leaks around the pricing of the iPhone 13 models. However, Cnet says that we might see a price cut on the iPhone 13 models, keeping the growing competition in mind. The report also talks about the reduction in the pricing of the Pixel 5 and Samsung Galaxy S21. In addition to that, the reports refer to the expected upgrades on the iPhone 13, which are not huge, another reason as to why the pricing may not go up.

That said, these are just predictions, and nothing can be said for sure. As far as the pricing is concerned, we expect the cheapest iPhone 13 mini to launch at Rs 65,000, the iPhone 13 at Rs 80,000, the iPhone 13 Pro at Rs 1,19,000 and the iPhone 13 Pro Max at Rs 1,30,000.
