Honor is preparing to add another smartphone to its X series lineup, with the Honor X9e Pro 5G scheduled to make its debut in Malaysia on September 24. The company has started revealing some of the phones key features ahead of the launch, with battery capacity and cameras taking much of the attention.

The upcoming handset is being positioned as a midrange smartphone, although several of its highlighted specifications are considerably larger than what is usually seen in this segment. The biggest example is the battery, as Honor has confirmed an 11000mAh unit for the new phone.

The large battery is expected to be one of the main selling points of the Honor X9e Pro 5G. The company has also confirmed fast charging support, although the exact charging speed has not yet been revealed.

Camera design is another feature that Honor has shown before the launch. The rear panel carries a large circular camera module, giving the phone a distinctive appearance. A 108 megapixel primary camera is positioned inside the module.

Honor is calling the camera system a MATRIX camera. The camera module also carries the words AI VISION CAMERA, suggesting that artificial intelligence will play a role in the phones imaging features. The company has not yet provided complete details about the AI functions that will be available.

The Honor X9e Pro 5G will be introduced in four colour options. These include Royal Purple, Reddish Brown, Dawn Gold and Midnight Black. The different finishes give the phone a choice of brighter and darker looks.

While the company has confirmed the launch date and some major features, several hardware details remain under wraps. Honor has not yet revealed the processor that will power the X9e Pro 5G.

Earlier phones in the series have used Snapdragon 6 series chipsets, which has led to expectations that the new model could receive a processor upgrade. However, the exact chipset should be confirmed by Honor rather than assumed from previous models.

The upcoming smartphone is expected to support 5G connectivity, as indicated by its name, but additional connectivity and memory specifications have not yet been disclosed. Details such as RAM, storage, display size, refresh rate and charging speed are also still awaited.

Honor appears to be focusing on two areas that are easy for consumers to notice immediately. The first is the 11000mAh battery, which is much larger than the capacity commonly found in many midrange smartphones. The second is the 108 megapixel camera, which gives the phone a high resolution primary sensor.

The circular camera module also gives the handset a recognizable rear design. The inclusion of AI VISION CAMERA branding indicates that Honor wants to highlight software assisted photography alongside the camera hardware.

The September 24 launch in Malaysia will provide the first complete look at the phone. Honor is expected to reveal additional specifications, pricing and availability during or around the launch event.

There is also a possibility that the Honor X9e Pro 5G could reach other markets after its Malaysian debut. However, the company has not confirmed international availability or specific launch dates for other countries.

For now, the confirmed information points to a midrange 5G smartphone with an unusually large battery, a 108 megapixel rear camera and AI based imaging features. More information about the processor, display and other hardware should become available as the launch approaches.
