Google say good bye to Gmail: Big changes in email after January 2024

Google, which has already said goodbye to some of its versions, is now going to discontinue another version. From January 2024, the basic version of Gmail or the simple version will stop working. Email Standard is the most used version now, while Email Basic is a 10-year-old feature.

After the deadline, Gmail will automatically upgrade from its Basic version to the Standard version. Google has updated their page to make customers aware of this. The company has also sent an email to Gmail users informing them about this.

From January 2024, the old simple version of Gmail will be disabled on mobile and desktop. This simple version of Gmail dates back 10 years and has been replaced by the standard version. Henceforth only the standard version will be in use,” the mail said.

If users try to access the older Basic version, the Google version will show the message “Slow Connection and Legacy Browser”. It also asks if you don’t want to use the standard version. Gmail basic version had many features like chat, spell checker, search filter, keyboard shortcut and rich formatting.
