Famous Kannada writer Nadoja, Sara Abubakar passed away. Hailing from the Kasaragod district of Kerala, he wrote the book on the shores of Chandragiri. He used to criticize some of the meaningless traditions of Muslims in his writings. Veteran famous Kannada writer Nadoja Sara Abubakar passed away.

Renowned Kannada writer Sara Abubakar passed away. Sir Abu Bakr breathed his last at a private hospital in Mangalore due to prolonged illness. He was 87 years old. Sara Abubakar, a native of Kasaragod district in Kerala, used to criticize some Muslim traditions in her writings.

Interested in writing since childhood,

Sara was born on June 30, 1936 in a village on the banks of Chandragiri in Kasaragod. Father P. Ahmed is a lawyer. Mother Chinabi. Sara did her primary education in Janidur and completed her high school education in Kasaragod. Sara’s marriage with Abu Bakr, who was an engineer, took place and she said goodbye to her studies. But Sara, who was always interested in reading, was addicted to the writings of Shivaram Karantaru, Inandar, Bhairappa, Ananthamurthy and was always engrossed in reading. Triveni’s novels about psychology attracted Sara.

Sara’s first novel ‘On the banks of Chandragiri’ was

Vaikam Mohammad Basheer’s novels which her brother used to bring. Sara was impressed by his writing and her desire to write grew. Apart from that, Sara’s first novel ‘Chandragiri Thieril’ was serialized in Lankesh newspaper, who was closely observing the plight of girls around her. The depiction of real life and the voices of women who were oppressed in the rules of religion that emerged in this story managed to touch the hearts of countless readers. It has not received much recognition.

Sara received Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Award, Dana Chintamani Attimabbe Award, Kannada Sahitya Parishad B. Sarojadevi Award, Vardhamana Award for the novel ‘Sahana’, Matoshree Ratnamma Heggade Award for the work ‘Caught in the Whirlwind’ and Sandesh Award, Anupama Award, Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, Hampi University Nadoja Award, Masti Award, Nripatunga Award etc.
