Udupi: 28 crore loss due to rain: Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar

Due to Heavy rainfall in Udupi district, 9 people have died so far and property worth around 28 crores has been damaged, Minister of Women and Child Welfare Department and Udupi District In-charge Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar said to media.

People’s lives have been disturbed by the incessant rains for the past four or five days. The Minister participated in a video interaction with District Collectors and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers to review the weather, rainfall and agricultural activities of the state held on Wednesday at the Chief Minister’s Home Office Krishna under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Speaking later, the minister said that disasters are happening every year due to rain in Udupi district, CM instructed the officials to take precautionary measures to prevent any such calamity from happening again. The minister said that suitable compensation will be given to the victims and he will soon visit the rain damaged areas of Udupi district.
