In this regard Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has published detailed guidelines. The Managing Director of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has issued a general standing order in this regard.

He said that the Shakti Yojana has been implemented to provide free travel facility to all the women of the state in the vehicles of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation, Northwest Karnataka Road Transport Corporation, Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation.

Government has given administrative approval on 05-06-2023 to implement from 11-06-2023.

Highlights of Shakti Yojana:

Free travel facility is applicable only for women (including female students) of Karnataka state.

Female passengers include girls aged 6 to 12 years and gender minorities.

Women are allowed to travel free across the state only in city transport, regular and express (including non-stop) transports of KSRTC.

Free travel facility is not applicable on luxury buses such as Rajahamsa, Non AC Sleeper, AC Sleeper, Airavata, Airavata Club Class, Ambari, Ambari Dream Class, Ambari Utsav, Fly Bus, EV Plus buses

There is no limit on travel for women passengers. This travel facility is applicable for intra-state travel only.

Not applicable for services like daily pass, monthly pass, occasional contract and permanent contract package of Shakti Yojana.

It is mandatory for women to show these documents to travel in the transport bus for free

Aadhaar card:

Voter ID card issued by Election Commission

Driving license:

Identity Card issued by Government of India Departments, Public Sector Undertakings, Institutions, where the place of residence is mentioned

Identity Card issued by Directorate of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens.

How to Apply:

It has been suggested to issue zero amount free tickets to women considering the above mentioned identity cards till applications are received through Seva Sindhu and Shakti Smart Cards are issued.

Administrator’s Responsibilities:

Women are not allowed to travel free of charge on other inter-state transports, except some selected inter-state transports. Be polite to inform women about this.

Free travel ticket issued under this scheme should not be treated as free. The Government of Karnataka has said that the amount generated from the distribution of these tickets will be reimbursed.

It is mandatory to issue free zero amount tickets to all women and students as per the pattern of issuing tickets to all passengers in the vehicle.
