Karnataka Lockdown, Govt issued revised lockdown guidelines

As Covid-19 cases go down, the Karnataka government has decided to withdraw the night curfew, as per a new order issued on Friday.  “Night curfew, which is being imposed from 10 pm to 5 am, is herewith withdrawn,” the order read.

In addition to this, the government has also allowed the resumption of horse racing in compliance with all Covid-19 safety protocols. “Number of racing patrons attending horse racing shall be strictly as per the seating capacity of the venue and only fully vaccinated people will be allowed entry into such premises,” the government said.

Karnataka Government announced date to reopen LKG, UKG classes

Physical classes for LKG and UKG students will begin across Karnataka from November 8 in all taluks where the rate of COVID-19 infection is below 2%. In an order issued on November 4, the Department of Public Instruction said that classes will be conducted for half the day.

In an earlier order, the department had announced starting of anganwadis from November 8. Classes from 1 to 10, besides colleges, had been opened in Karnataka in a phased manner. Experts said children below 5 years need not wear masks. Children have to be asked to cover mouths and nose while coughing or sneezing.

If a student shows any Covid symptoms like cough, fever, cold, loss of sense of smell or taste, she has to be isolated and guardians informed. If a student tests positive, all kids should be tested and the school closed temporarily. Reopening should be done based on health workers’ instructions.

Parents should not send sick children to school. Campuses should be regularly sanitised with sodium hypochlorite solution. Children should be tested for Covid symptoms at the entrance and they should maintain a physical distance of 1m between each other. Children should bring food and water from home. Schools should have hot water facility.

Care should be taken to ensure that children don’t put any other substance in mouths other than food and water and sanitisers should be stored away from their reach. Classes for these children can be run from 9am to 3.30pm from Monday to Friday. In the government sector, Karnataka Public Schools have LKG and UKG.

Karnataka reported 261 new Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours, as per a bulletin issued by the state government on Thursday. The positivity rate for the day stands at 0.48%.

During the same duration, 296 people recovered from the infection while five people succumbed to the deadly virus, taking the tally of the current active Covid cases to 8,267.

As per the bulletin, the state has recorded 29,89,275 Covid-19 cases so far. Out of this, 29,42,884 people have recovered from the infection while 38,095 people have lost their lives to it.
