Karnataka: Free bus travel for all women in state; Ramalinga Reddy big announcement

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Tuesday announced that women in Karnataka can travel for free in public buses. This is one of Congress five guarantees announced before the Karnataka Assembly election 2023.

Today (May 30), Transport Minister Ramlinga Reddy held a meeting with the managing officers of four corporations regarding the distribution of Free Bus Pass to women , which is one of the 5 guarantees of the Congress government .

After spoke to media, the minister said that women can travel in government buses for free. APL, BPL card holders are not mentioned in our manifesto. So he announced that all women can travel for free across the state. With this, one of the 5 guarantees of the Congress has been fulfilled.

After holding a meeting at the KSRTC office in Shantinagar, he spoke to the media representatives and held a discussion with the MDs of the transport corporations. I discussed the pros and cons in today’s meeting. We will submit the report of the meeting to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

He said that CM Siddaramaiah held a consultation with the Principal Secretary of the Transport Department yesterday (May 29). I have discussed about the loss due to Corona. Our transport department is a reputed institution in the country.

More than 350 awards have come to 4 transport corporations. 240 units are functioning in 4 transport corporations. There are 23,978 vehicles, more than 1,04,450 personnel. 82.51 lakh passengers travel across the state daily. The total daily income of the four corporations is Rs.2,31,332 lakhs.
