Karnataka CM Bommai clarified that there was no discussion about this either with me or at any level of our government. “I don’t know anything about what the chairman of the Waqf board said. It may be their personal view or stance. This is not the stand of our government. “Let the chairman of the Waqf Board talk to me about his thoughts,” he said, distancing himself from the controversy.

Commenting on the Chief Minister’s statement, Waqf Board Chairman Shafi Saadi said , ‘The college will be started with government grants. I have never said that only Muslim girls are allowed in this. But I talked about starting a college for girls. We have RS 25 crore in our board. We will start colleges in 10 districts of the state by giving Rs 2.5 crore to one college. “I only said that I had discussed this with the minister,” he clarified TV 9 Kannada reported.

My full statement has not been broadcasted by the media. I have never said that we will start a college only for Muslim women. The media is distorting my statement. Already 112 educational institutes are functioning by Waqf Board. These are working as per the rules of Education Department of government.
