IND vs SA Test In sudden development India are without their regular skipper Virat Kohli in the second Test at Johannesburg and KL Rahul has walked out for the toss with Dean Elgar. KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bat first against South Africa and has Jasprit Bumrah as his deputy for this Test. “Unfortunately, Virat has had an upper back spasm, the physios are working on him and hopefully he’ll recover for the next Test,” he said.

KL Rahul, who was named man-of-the-match in the first Test, has also been named captain for the ODI series against South Africa as Rohit Sharma continued to recover from his injury. Meanwhile, KL Rahul said Hanuma Vihari was named as Virat Kohli’s replacement.

Rahul, who has become India’s 20th Test captain, said the visitors will look to continue the good work done in Centurion. “It is every Indian player’s dream to captain his country. Really honoured and looking forward to this challenge. We have had a few good wins here and hopefully, we’ll look to continue that,” Rahul said.

Virat Kohli’s batting form has been under the spotlight for a while now, having managed just 652 runs in 14 matches at an average of 26.08 since the start of 2020. Kohli has scored 310 runs, including a hundred and 2 fifties at the Wanderers where India have never lost a Test match.
