IMD issued heavy Rainfall Alert in Karnataka for next 2 days

After experiencing record-breaking rains in September, the wet weather conditions are set to march over to October for many parts of India. Even as the parts of South India await the arrival of the northeast monsoon season. Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka expected heavy rain coming 2 days.

Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka are in for inclement weather conditions in the coming days as heavy rains have been forecast due to a cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal adjoining Tamil Nadu.

A meteorological mix with a trough running through this cyclonic circulation to the east-central Arabian Sea off Karnataka and Kerala coast also produces widespread rains. Together, the conditions will effectively bring wet weather over the region for the next 2-3 days, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Among the major cities, Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru are expected to witness generally cloudy skies with a few spells of rain or thundershowers for the next two to three days. Chennai is also likely to witness of few spells of thunderstorms with rains this week. Bengaluru already witnessed a spell of heavy rains on Sunday and Monday night, with the city registering 64 mm rainfall till Monday morning.

Parts of the city also recorded over 90 mm of rainfall, leading to waterlogging, traffic snarls and falling of trees. Tamil Nadu, Kerala and coastal and south interior Karnataka are expected to witness heavy rainfall conditions from this Monday to Thursday.

The Weather Channel met team adds that heavy rains would lash parts of South India on the following days: Tamil Nadu on Monday and Wednesday, Kerala between Monday to Wednesday and over south interior Karnataka on Tuesday and Wednesday.
