Dengue cases rise in Karnataka, most cases found in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Dengue cases in many cities are rising rapidly. Chennai, Hyderabad are among the cities where the surge is high. Now Bengaluru is also reporting a remarkable number of dengue cases – 569 since September 1.

Dengue’s all four variants, including the deadly D2, are in circulation in different parts of Karnataka. But no deaths have been reported so far in the city. According to a media report, Karnataka till now has reported almost about 2,987 dengue cases, from which 18% 540 cases are from Bengaluru alone.

Other districts like Udupi have recorded 293 cases, Kalaburagi, 280, Shivamogga, 226, and Dakshina Kannada district 190. Bengaluru is reporting the highest number of cases from the state. In September till now, the city has recorded over 25% of dengue cases.

According to the district-wise mapping of dengue variants, it is found that the most prominent variants running in the city are D1, D2, and D3. The D4 variant is being seen in Hassan and Bengaluru.
