Covid-19 Negative Report mandatory for travel to Karnataka: Basavaraj Bommai

Bengaluru: Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday (May 22) said that a negative COVID-19 test will be mandatory for people coming outside from the state.

“We have barricaded not only major roads but also the minor ones as was done last time,” he told reporters here. “We have imposed restrictions, especially in the border districts such as Belagavi, Bidar, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Anekal in Bengaluru (bordering Tamil Nadu) and near Mangaluru (bordering Kerala),” added Bommai.

The Home Minister also said that he had imposed the guidelines of the Union government for a negative COVID report.
Bommai said that he had directed all bordering districts authorities to strictly impose COVID-19 restrictions.

The announcement comes a day after Chief Minister BS Yeediyurappa extended the COVID-10 lockdown inn the state from May 24 to June 7.

Karnataka had announced the lockdown for April 27 for 14 days which has been extended now to June.
