Travelling from Maharashtra Omicron and corona cases rises in Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said there was a need for tougher rules for travellers from Maharashtra. Speaking to reporters after holding a review meeting, he said for impose strict rules. CM Bommai said Stricter rules for those travelling to Karnataka from Maharashtra.

CM Bommai said checkposts on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border in Belagavi and Vijayapura will check full (two-dose) vaccination and negative RT PCR certificate. “In the last one week, Covid cases are increasing across the country, especially so in Maharashtra. As interaction between people of Karnataka and Mumbai is very high, we have instructed for restrictions.

This may cause inconvenience to commuters but their cooperation is necessary,” he added. Asked about the partial lockdown restrictions in West Bengal and other states, he said the government’s decision will be based on the evolving situation. “A decision will be taken in the next two days,” he added.

India is all set to begin vaccinating the 15 to 18-year-old age group against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) from today. It is, however, to be noted that only Bharat Biotech’s indigenously-made shot ‘Covaxin’ will be used for vaccinating this age bracket. According to a note sent by the Union health ministry to all states and Union territories, additional doses of Covaxin will be sent to the states for administering the vaccine to this population category.

The government’s decision to begin the Corona vaccination children drive in this regard was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Christmas Day last December. It was said that while vaccination for the age bracket of 15-18 will begin from January 3, 2022, the administration of a precautionary third dose (booster shot) for vulnerable categories of people will begin from January 10.
