The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation collected Rs 4.62 lakh in fines from 2,744 passengers in August for various cases, including ticketless travel in buses.

Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation BMTC Male passengers have also been fined across the city for sitting in seats reserved for women passengers, while 119 male passengers have been fined Rs 11,900 for using women’s reserved seats under Sections 177 and 94 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

2,625 ticketless passengers were detected and a total fine of Rs 4.50 lakh was collected from them. 1,430 cases have also been registered against bus operators on the basis of dereliction of duty in buses where ticketless passengers were plying.
