KSRTC electric buses, which were running experimentally at the depot for the past one week, have hit the road today. Traffic has started. The first electric bus service between Bangalore and Mysore has started from today. This KSRTC electric bus is plying on the expressway. Student pass is not allowed in KSRTC electric bus. 50 KSRTC electric buses will ply in the next three months. Will travel to nearby districts of Bangalore. KSRTC has decided to run electric buses in a range of 300 km.

The e-buses will include comfortable seating, television, premium seats, charging sockets at every seat, AC vents, reading lights and many more. The electric buses came to the state on December 31, 2022 and have already successfully completed the trial ride. The first e-bus will leave Bangalore on January 16 and reach Mysore. The electric bus from Bangalore to Mysore is non-stop and the bus has a premium service pass.

Electric buses can travel 300km on a single charge. From February, 50 buses will connect Madikeri, Virajpet, Chikkamagaluru, Davanagere and Shimoga city from Bangalore. Charging points have already been opened in Mysore and Bangalore for buses. Charging points will be placed at Madikeri, Virajpet, Davanagere, Shimoga and Chikkamagaluru bus stations in the coming days.

The operation of the electric buses has been given to private sector and will be handled by Gross Cost Contract (GCC). KSRTC has also offered to fund this maintenance and will pay Rs 55 per km as operational cost.
