There are 1.28 crore ration card holders in the state under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, out of which 99 percent are seeded with Aadhaar numbers. Nearly 1.06 crore, which is 82 percent of the total eligible beneficiaries, have active bank accounts linked to their Aadhaar number.

These beneficiaries will receive the amount in their bank accounts for additional 5 kg rice at Rs 34 per kg through direct benefit transfer (DBT). However, 22 lakh BPL families may not get benefits under the Anna Bhagya scheme immediately as their bank accounts are no linked to Aadhaar numbers, according to the government.

Card-holders can check the status of the money deposited in their bank accounts by visiting Food, Civil Supplies & Consumers Affairs Department website, by clicking on the link CLICK HERE TO CHECK ANNA BHAGYA MONEY and entering their ration card number to find out the status of the money transfer to them. The Karnataka government decided to give money to beneficiaries instead of rice after facing difficulties in procuring rice required for the programme.

The government decided to give Rs 36 per kg, instead of the five kg rice it promised. The money will be transferred to the head of the family’s account. The person of the family who receives the amount under the Anna Bhagya scheme will also be alerted via SMS once the money is transferred to the account. E-KYC and linking of Aadhar card to the ration card is a prime requisite to access the Anna Bhagya scheme.
