Anna Bhagya Scheme: money will transferred to account from tomorrow

Anna Bhagya Scheme: The Karnataka government is facing difficulty in procuring large quantities of rice; it has decided that instead of providing 5 kg additional rice to beneficiaries as promised under the ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme, it would give cash at the rate of Rs 34 per kilo. Anna Bhagya Scheme: money will transfer to account from tomorrow.

Congress had promised 10 kg of rice per person through the Public Distribution System under the Anna Bhagya scheme, in its election manifesto ahead of assembly polls. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that an amount of Rs.170 instead of 5 kg of rice (Rs.34 per kg) will be credited to the account of the beneficiaries through DBT until the state government is able to procure rice.

Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies minister K. H. Muniyappa Said In all parts of Karnataka, rice is not consumed by the people. We give ragi to the people of southern part. We will give corn for North Karnataka people. There is stock of millet, no stock of corn, after stocking up, we will distribute grains. We will buy grain through MSP. We will give two kg, corn or millet and eight kg of rice. He said that it will be implemented from tomorrow as promised.

He also said that If central government changes its mind and gives rice, we will distribute rice or we will call a tender and buy rice. Money is ready, will be transferred to the account. We will deposit money into the account from tomorrow itself. He said that there is no need for convention for the implementation of Annabhagya Yojana.
