Chief Minister Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in Karnataka is all set to start its direct bank transfer of benefits under the Anna Bhagya Scheme starting day Monday, July 10, 2023. Anna Bhagya scheme: How to check cash transfer.

The Karnataka government, under its Anna Bhagya scheme, will transfer Rs 170 towards an additional 5 kg rice per beneficiary of the below poverty line (BPL) families. Those entitled to access the scheme can check the status of the money transfer by visiting the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumers Affairs Department website.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar launched the scheme of transferring money to beneficiaries of the Anna Bhagya scheme. The government for now transferred money to bank accounts of card-holders in Bagalkot, Dharwad, Ramanagara, and Bengaluru Rural districts.

Card-holders in the remaining districts will get the money in the coming days. Card-holders can check the status of the money deposited in their bank accounts by visiting Food, Civil Supplies & Consumers Affairs Department website, by clicking on the link https://ahara.kar.nic.in/status1/status_of_dbt.aspx and entering their ration card number to find out the status of the money transfer to them.

The Karnataka government decided to give money to beneficiaries instead of rice after facing difficulties in procuring rice required for the programme. The government decided to give Rs 36 per kg, instead of the five kg rice it promised. The money will be transferred to the head of the family’s account.

The person of the family who receives the amount under the Anna Bhagya scheme will also be alerted via SMS once the money is transferred to the account. E-KYC and linking of Aadhar card to the ration card is a prime requisite to access the Anna Bhagya scheme.

Anna Bhagya is one of five election promises made by the Congress. Each member of the Below Poverty Line (BPL) card holder gets 10 kg of free rice under the scheme. Around 1.28 crore ration card holders are eligible for this scheme, according to the data released by the Chief Minister’s office.
