Indian Wrestler Ravi Dahiya confirms another medal in Tokyo Olympics

Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya defeated Nurislam Sanayev of Kazakhstan in the semi-finals of the men’s Freestyle 57kg wrestling and assured the country of at least a silver medal by qualifying for the final.

While Deepak Punia lost 10-0 against David Morris of USA in men’s Freestyle 86kg wrestling semi-finals and failed to add to the wrestling medals tally for the day. Punia will now play for bronze on August 5.

In women’s wrestling Anshu Malik made it to the repechage round and she will now have a chance to make it to the bronze medal match if she manages to beat Valeria Koblova. Lovlina Borgohain settled for a bronze medal as she lost to reigning world champion Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey in the women’s welterweight semi-final.

Neeraj Chopra handed India a good start to Day 12 of the Tokyo Olympics as he booked his spot in the men’s javelin throw final without any fuss, his first attempt throw of 86.65m was enough for him to qualify. Top 12 athletes or whoever breaches the 83.50m mark qualify for the final.

Meanwhile, Shivpal Singh, India’s second javelin thrower failed to qualify for the finals. 74.81m was his best attempt.
