Goa Liquor sale banned for three days from August 9

In the wake of the upcoming panchayat elections, a three-day ban on the sale of liquor has been imposed in Goa state in August. In this regard, Goa Finance Secretary Pranab Bhatt has issued a notification and ordered not to sell liquor on August 9, 10 and 12.

Certain guidelines have been issued in the notification and licensed ‘bar and restaurant’ owners cannot sell any liquor. A board stating that the restaurant is open for food only should also be displayed on the premises. It is said that no liquor will be allowed for sale on these days. Elections to 186 panchayat bodies in Goa will be held on August 10 and counting of votes will be held on August 12.
