Covid-19 cases surge in Tamil Nadu imposed complete Lockdown

Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases, the Tamil Nadu government has imposed a complete lockdown in the state on Sunday, January 23. The lockdown will begin at 10 pm on Saturday and remain in place till 5 am on Monday.

Earlier this month, the Tamil Nadu government had announced complete lockdown on Sundays starting January 9, in view of the rising coronavirus cases in the state. The state had also imposed a night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am on all days.

What’s Allowed in Sunday

– Operational essential services allowed include milk shops, ATM centres, hospitals, hospital-related works, goods transportation and petrol bunks.

– Restaurants and hotels can offer takeout services from 7 am to 10 pm along with food delivery facilities.

Tamil Nadu recorded 28,561 new Covid-19 cases and 39 deaths in 24 hours on Thursday. There are 1,79,205 active cases in the state at present. Of the new cases recorded in the state on Thursday, Chennai district alone logged 7,520 while Coimbatore had 3,390.

Good news for Karnataka people After Covid-19 cases blast in Karnataka. CM Bommai revised lockdown restriction relaxed from weekend curfew and continue night curfew. Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai said after meeting with covid experts and ministers.

Yesterday Karnataka reports 47,754 cases in 24 hours, taking the state’s positivity rate to 18.48%, said state health minister K Sudhakar on Thursday. In addition to this, 29 more people lost their lives to the disease. CM Bommai call emergency meeting tomorrow 1pm January 21.

State capital Bengaluru accounted for 30,540 new Covid cases and eight deaths. Further, 22,143 patients recuperated and were discharged across the state since Wednesday. There are currently 2,93,231 active Covid-19 cases in the state, nearly 2,00,000 of which are in Bengaluru.
