RCB vs KKR: Royal Challengers Bangalore will play with new captain
RCB vs KKR: When the world’s richest T20 league resumes on May 17, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar is likely to miss the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at home due to a hand injury. Royal Challengers Bangalore will play with new captain.
Rajat Patidar, who is leading a big franchise like RCB for the first time, has performed exceptionally well as they are in contention for a playoff spot. According to a report in the Indian Express, Patidar injured his finger during RCB’s match against Chennai Super Kings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and may take longer than expected to recovery.

If rumours are to be believed, he may also miss the India A team’s tour of England. It is learnt that if IPL 2025 had not been stopped for a week, Patidar would have definitely missed a couple of RCB’s matches.
The report said Patidar has been advised to wear a splint to protect his finger. His injury will be assessed in the coming days. While RCB is confident about Patidar’s availability at the business end of IPL 2025, the right-handed batsman could play as an impact player.

But everything depends on Patidar’s recovery. If Patidar is not available full-time, Jitesh Sharma can lead the team. Before the suspension of IPL 2025, RCB lost middle-order batsman Devdutt Padikkal, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury. Mayank Agarwal has been named as his replacement.
RCB is currently in second place in the IPL 2025 points table, 16 points behind the top-placed Gujarat Titans (that too with 16 points). The Shubman Gill-led side are on top owing to better net run rate.
