Ravindra Jadeja wants to retire from the longest format due to knee injury in an attempt to prolong his cricketing career in other formats. As per the reports, he is likely to be kept out of the Test set-up for a long time.

As a result, he could be out of cricketing action for close to six months. It may take him a long time to recover from his injury. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the upcoming tour of South Africa. Indian All-rounder plan to retire from longest format of cricket India are scheduled to play three Tests, three ODIs, and four T20Is against the South Africa.

Earlier, India beat New Zealand by 3-0 in the T20I series. After that, the hosts won the Test series by 1-0. Meanwhile, Jadeja didn’t earn a ticket to South Africa after he sustained a knee injury. Ravindra Jadeja has been a useful asset to the Indian cricket team for a long time now. India’s productive all-rounder has extended his contribution to the national team across formats.

The 33-year-old Ravindra Jadeja represented Team India in 57 Tests, 168 ODIs, and 55 T20Is. He scored 2195, 2411, and 256 runs respectively. Jadeja slammed 17 fifties and a century in the red-ball format. The all-rounder slammed 13 fifties in One-Day Internationals. He has played 200 games in the Indian Premier League wherein he scored 2386 runs including 2 fifties for Chennai Super Kings.

On the other hand, the all-rounder took 232 wickets in Tests. He also bowled really well in ODIs where he took 188 wickets to his name. The veteran took 46 wickets in T20Is. Ravindra Jadeja is acknowledged as the three-dimensional player. Notably, he is known for his ability to deliver goods in the form of a batsman, bowler and fielder.

Besides that, he is known for his trademark ‘sword’ celebration. He does that every time when he scores a fifty. Ravindra Jadeja hogged the limelight in the last edition of the IPL when he struck 62 off just 28 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He took 127 wickets in the cash-rich IPL including one five-wicket haul.

This means that we might see Ravindra Jadeja playing in ODIs, T20Is, and IPL. The likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shubman Gill, and Rahul Chahar will not be taking part in the series due to injury. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma is the new T20I and ODI captain of Team India. He has also replaced Ajinkya Rahane to be the vice-captain in the Indian Test set-up.
