Shane Warne Expired: Australia cricket legend Shane Warne has passed away of a suspected attack in Thailand. He was 52. Warne is widely regarded as one of the greatest bowlers to have played the game, having retired as Test cricket’s second most prolific wicket-taker. Warne’s management company in a brief statement released on Friday confirmed that he passed away in Koh Samui, Thailand, of a suspected heart attack. “Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,” Warne’s management have confirmed in a statement.

Australia legend Shane Warne had plenty of highs in his career which included finishing his Test career with 708 wickets. However, winning the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008 with the Rajasthan Royals was definitely one of his career highlights even after retirement.

Warne led the Royals to their one and only IPL crown till date as he performed superbly both an captain and coach of the franchise. The genial Australia leg-spinner Warne was the second-highest wicket-taker for the Royals behind Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir – picking up 19 wickets in 15 matches, winning a record 13 games en route to the title.

Warne played 145 Tests and 194 ODIs between 1992 and 2007 and took a combined 1001 wickets during his storied international career. It is sad news for IPL fans first trophy winner Shane Warne Expired before IPL 2022.
