Batting first in the match, Punjab Kings scored 176 runs losing six wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. In reply, Virat Kohli scored a half-century for RCB chasing the target, Dinesh Karthik scored an unbeaten 28 runs in 10 balls and Mahipal Lamror scored 17 runs in 8 balls with 4 balls to spare.
Chasing a target of 179 runs, Virat Kohli gave RCB a fast start. But Virat Kohli should have been bowled out in the first over. But Jonny Bairstow at first slip left Kohli caught. Taking advantage of this, Virat Kohli hit four boundaries in the same over. But wickets kept falling from the other end.
Captain Faf du Plessis and Cameron Green scored 3 runs each before Rabada send them pavilion . Rajat Patidar scored 18 runs and supported Virat Kohli. But even they could not play freely. At the same time, Virat completed his half-century in 31 balls. Harpreet Brar dismissed Patidar and Glenn Maxwell who scored 18 runs. Only 3 runs came from Maxwell’s bat.

After this Virat scored quick runs but he got no support. Anuj Rawat was also struggling to score runs. Finally Virat Kohli out to Harshal Patel in the last ball of the 16th over. Facing 49 balls in his innings, Virat scored 77 runs with the help of 11 boundaries and 2 sixes. Anuj Rawat was also dismissed after just two balls. Then RCB needed 49 runs from 22 balls.
Dinesh Karthik becomes winning hero:
Mahipal Lamror, who came in to bat as an impact player after Anuj’s dismissal, hit Sam Curran for a boundary. Karthik hit another boundary in the same over. Later in the 18th over, Lamror hit Arshadeep for a six and a boundary. 13 runs came in this over. In the end, RCB needed 23 runs to win in two overs.
In the 19th over bowled by Harshal Patel, Karthik and Lamror scored 13 runs with the help of two boundaries. Now 10 runs were needed in the last over. Karthik, who was on strike, hit a six and a boundary in just two balls to take the team to victory. There was a partnership of 48 runs in 18 balls between the two.
