In fact, Ishan Kishan walked away as the most expensive player at the IPL 2022 auctions at Rs 15.25 crore and was taken by Mumbai Indians (MI), while Deepak Chahar followed as he bagged a hefty Rs 14 crore deal with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Many people are sharing photos of Maheesh Theekshana saying Chennai Super Kings CSK should flush him out of the team as it is owned by Tamils. Maheesh Theekshana is Sri Lankan fast bowler. Considering his bowling strength, CSK bought him for Rs 70 lakh. He comes from Sinhalese background. It is reported that Sinhalese soldiers allegedly committed war crimes against Tamilians in Sri Lanka. The incident happened when the military took action against LTTE in 2009.

The group was established demanding an independent Tamil state in Sri Lanka. As a result, social media has been flooded with messages demanding to boycott the CSK. Meanwhile, some said the Chennai Super Kings CSK should remove Maheesh Theekshana from the team. As the 2022 Indian Premier League auction came to a close this week, controversy erupted after reigning champions Chennai Super Kings purchased Sri Lankan army cricketer Maheesh Theekshana to join the Tamil Nadu-based franchise.

The hashtags #Boycott_ChennaiSuperKings and #DontNormaliseTamilGenocide began being shared on social media platforms as new spread of the Sri Lankan Army Corporal joining the team. The 21-year-old has previously praised the Sri Lankan army, which has been accused of committing mass atrocities and genocide, for its involvement in cricket on the island.
