Apart from him, DC retained Prithvi Shaw (Rs 7.5 crore), Rishabh Pant (Rs 16 crore) and Axar Patel (Rs 9 crore). Delhi Capitals finished as the table-toppers in the last season of the IPL. Under Rishabh Pant’s leadership, Delhi Capitals qualified for the playoffs. They will look to do better in the next season.

The Delhi Capitals right-arm fast bowler seems to be recovering from a hip injury. As a result, he missed the entire summer. He did not feature in the home Test and ODI series against India. The pacer is still recovering from the injury. Cricket South Africa (CSA) is also unlikely to clear him.

It was earlier expected that Delhi Capitals Anrich Nortje would spring into cricketing action in the upcoming IPL. However, it seems that he hasn’t recovered from his injury yet. CSA medical team are also unwilling to clear the paceman as well. The CSA selectors didn’t pick Anrich Nortje in the squad for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh commencing on March 18.

Meanwhile, some Proteas players are expected to give three weeks of IPL a miss. It is due to the fact that they have a home series against Bangladesh. They have prioritized national duty over the IPL for the time being. Proteas will host Bangladesh for three ODIs which will be followed by the two-match Test series starting from March 18.

Bangladesh tour of South Africa comes to a close on April 12. The Tata IPL 2022 starts on March 26 and ends on May 29. Nortje hasn’t played cricket in last four months right after suffering hip problems after the T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE. Thereafter, due to a “persistent” hip injury, he missed the home series against India and the overseas Tests against New Zealand.
