Mr. IPL Suresh Raina will be in the auction pool for the first time after 2008. He was picked by the franchise in the first-ever IPL auction and since then, he has become one of the faces of the Chennai Super Kings. He represented and captained the Gujarat Lions for two seasons and came back to CSK in 2018 when he got retained by the franchise alongside MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja.

Raina has been one of the most successful batters in the history of the league and is on number four in the list of leading run-scorers in the league, behind Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma. He has played 205 IPL games and has scored 5528 runs in those games at an average of 32.52. Raina has played many match-winning knocks and won many games for CSK in the IPL.

But his performances have not been up to the standards in the last two seasons. Raina is not playing any cricket at the moment and IPL is the only tournament that he plays as he has already announced his retirement from international cricket. He has been a household name in Chennai and he has gradually earned that respect while playing for the city.

Hence, releasing him was a big decision by the franchise. Ravichandran Ashwin said Nevertheless, we can again see him playing for Chennai. The two seasons that he played were disasters for the southpaw as he never looked in touch. He has a good amount of cricket left in him. Hopefully, CSK will rope him in the auction and we will again see Suresh Raina winning games for Chennai.

Faf du Plessis will be one of the hot picks in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Last season Faf du Plessis fell short of the ‘Orange Cup’ award with just 2 runs as he scored 633 runs with an average of 45.21 and a strike rate of 138.20 which included 6 fifties. If CSK wants to buy Faf du Plessis this time, they should definitely be ready to spend a lot more than they did last time.

Deepak Chahar has been one of the standout players in the last four seasons of IPL,since being picked up by Chennai Super Kings in the mega auction in 2018. His impressive numbers even earned him an Indian call up as well. The right arm seamer has been very consistent with his lines and lengths upfront and the fact that he can swing it both ways make him a very potent wicket-taking option.

He has started winning games on his own with the bat down the order and does have a cool head on his shoulders. Playing under MS Dhoni is one of the best things that can happen to a bowler as he gets a lot to learn and the results are visible for the fast bowler as well. Since making his IPL debut in 2016, Chahar has gone on to pick up 59 wickets in 63 games at a decent economy rate of 7.80.

The 29-year-old has also started to make a big case for himself in the Indian colours as well. Meanwhile, he wasn’t retained by the Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Over the years, he has developed the ability to execute yorkers at the death and has added a lot of variety to his bowling. There is no doubt, the defending champions will definitely work on bringing Deepak back into the mix as he has served them really well over the years.
