LPG Cylinder Price Increased by Rs 209: New Rate Effect from Today

The development comes a month after Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) cut commercial LPG prices by Rs 158 per cylinder with effect from September 1. After this, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi will be Rs 1,522. was, now it has increased to Rs.1731.50.

In August, the central government had reduced the price of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 200. Earlier, the Modi government had reduced the LPG cylinder price to Rs 200. Along with this, the Narendra Modi government gifted free gas connection to 75 lakh women.

Earlier this month, the Union Cabinet approved an additional 75 lakh new LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme, which will be provided over the next three years. The total cost of these connections is Rs 1,650 crore.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said these new connections would be in continuation of the existing deposit-free connections being provided under Ujjwala Yojana.

He said 75 lakh new connections will be provided to families who depend on wood for cooking, which affects the health of women in rural families. Thakur said the cost of providing these deposit-free connections would be borne by the central government, which would then be reimbursed by oil marketing companies (OMCs).
