India Reports 36,571 new Covid-19 cases and 540 deaths in single

India has added 36,571 new COVID-19 infections, taking the total tally of cases to 3,23,58,829, while the death toll has climbed to 4,33,589 with 540 more fatalities, according to Union health ministry data updated on Friday.

The national recovery rate has improved to 97.54%, the highest since March last year, according to the data updated at 8 am. The ministry said that active cases have declined to 3,63,605, and comprise 1.12% of the total infections, the lowest since March last year.

A reduction of 524 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in 24 hours. The ministry said that 18,86,271 tests were conducted on Thursday, taking the total tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 50,26,99,702.

The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 1.94% and it has been less than 3% for the last 24 days, it said. The weekly positivity rate has been recorded at 1.93% and it has been below 3% for the last 56 days, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has increased to 3,15,25,080, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.34%, the data stated. Cumulatively, 57.22 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive so far.
