India reports 34,703 new cases and 553 death in 24 hours

New Delhi: India recorded 34,703 new cases in the 24 hours ending 8 am Tuesday, taking the country’s total infections to over 3.06 crore. This is the lowest spike of daily cases in 111 days.

Out of these, active cases further declined to 4.64 lakh while recovery rate rose to 97.17%. Kerala topped the number of infections, with 8,037 new cases. As many as 553 succumbed to the viral disease while 51,864 recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll and total recoveries to 403,281 and 29,752,294 respectively.

This is the 54th consecutive day where the daily recoveries are greater than the new cases. In other news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said experience shows no nation can solve challenge of Covid-19 in isolation. “There is no parallel to such a pandemic in a hundred years. Experience shows that no nation, however powerful that nation is, can solve a challenge like this in isolation,” he said while speaking at CoWin conclave.

According to the India Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 421,424,881 samples have been tested for Covid-19 so far of which 1,647,424 were tested in the last 24 hours.
